Disc One - The North Yorkshire Moors RailwayTo travel on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, through the very heart of the National Park, is one of Britain's finest railway experiences, along a line, which for more than 150 years has stood tribute to the engineering skills of George Stephenson. This programme takes you first to the coastal town of Whitby, with its cliff top Abbey, fine beaches and bustling harbour, then on to Grosmont station. War department tender locomotive Dame Vera Lynn and No. 80135 are captured in action, before joining Lambton Tank No.5 as she travels the steep climb to Goathland, then past the radar golf balls of Flyingdales to descend into the Newtondale Gorge.Disc Two - The Severn Valley RailwayFor 16 miles, the Severn Valley Railway follows Britain's longest river, linking gentle countryside and historic towns, which are steeped in the relics of our industrial past. From the new Victorian style station at Kidderminster the programme journeys north, using the line's steam locomotives, including the Great Marquess, a K4 class loco. Along the way the visitor can see traditional crafts, such as carpet, rope and clay pipe making. There are also superb stations and viaducts, as well as the ferry at Hampton Loade, a waterwheel at Daniels Mill and the picturesque River Severn itself. At journey's end in the ancient town of Bridgenorth, there's a chance to see the Midland motor museum, before the world famous heritage site at Ironbridge.Disc Three - The Keighley And Worth Valley RailwayIn the heart of West Yorkshire, the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway possesses an impressive catalogue of steam locomotives. During the year the railway holds a variety of special events. This programme follows the events that took place during Enthusiasts Weekend in spring.
